I am a fishwife
Caught this handsome blue cat on a jug line in Lake Conway using goldfish for bait. He was so passive I didn’t even know there was a fish on.

Fishwife contributor zenlizard caught this 3-pound shortnose gar on the muddy banks of the Arkansas. No one else caught anything, except I caught a buzz. Beer and fishing go good together.

We ate the shit outta this fish.
A crappie recipe: Sprinkle fish with olive oil and a little kosher salt. Make a few slits in the side for herb penetration and then rub with spices—you can use prepared fish rub or your own combination of thyme, parsley, and whatever you like. Stuff belly with garlic and whatever fresh herbs you have on hand. Put a few garlic slivers in the holes too. Bake at 425 for thirty minutes.

Mark caught this pair in the pouring rain on Lake Conway—one tasty crappie and a 13.3 pound channel cat. We ate the crappie and let the cat live because its underbelly looked so soft and white.

This catfish may have hanged itself. Or it could’ve been lynched! Either way, by the time we got to this tree, it had no body to love.
